Getting to know your librarians – Lynn

What should we call you?

Where can we find you?
Ballard Branch Library — under the green roof

Why teen services?
Teens are, for the most part, curious. They are looking at everything for the first time with their own eyes — not their parents’ eyes. They are defining themselves.

I would say teen services librarians approach things similarly. We want to offer our traditional, important library services in innovative ways. We seek to redefine the library services we provide.

For me, it is the best of both worlds.

Favorite reference resource (print and/or online)?
Encyclopedias ~ print and online.

Favorite book of all time and favorite book right now?
Kindred by Octavia Butler — all time fav
Quarrel & Quandary: essays by Cynthia Ozick is a fav right now. Although, having recently reread it, Stuart Little by EB White is a close second.

You live in Seattle – To umbrella or not to umbrella?
Definitely umbrella(s). I own 5 — pink, lime green, beige, red, and plaid.

The best thing about living in Seattle is…
flowers that bloom in spring, the salmon that return in autumn

We know you love Seattle but where would you most like to live?
During the summer months, in a big old farmhouse in Illinois with lots of trees, a few cows, and a creek nearby.

What is your favorite word?

What is your motto?
The Brain is Wider than the Sky
Emily Dickinson wrote that.
