So there is a wonderful organization that goes by the name of Youth Speaks Seattle. On Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Seattle’s marvelous Central Library they host a writing circle. A writing circle is an informal drop-in writing group for all levels of writing and performance experience. They meet on the 3rd floor in the Teen Center area. The age range varies from 13-21, and the sessions are led by youth poets and professionals alike.
Also of note is that every third Sunday at Cafe Allegro in the University district is an open mic. The address is 4214 University Way (one block south of University Bookstore). Sign-ups for reading are at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. For more general information, check out their website; however, if you want to be more in the loop go to their blog!
