Upcoming Release: Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins

Judging by the number of holds already placed on Mockingjay and its predecessors (The Hunger Games and Catching Fire), many of you out there already know about the soon-to-be-released final installment of the Hunger Games trilogy. But just in case you don’t, this is for you: Mockingjay is coming out on August 24th! Don’t bother trying to find snippets of the book online, though – the book has been embargoed, meaning NO ONE gets a copy before the official release date. In fact, this short description is the only thing that’s been released about the book so far:

“Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins’s groundbreaking Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.”

That will have to hold you over until the 24th, though you can also go here to read an interview with Suzanne Collins about the series in general. (It’s actually pretty interesting!) And just in case all you Hunger Games fans haven’t heard, The Hunger Games movie is set to be released by Lionsgate in 2011, complete with a screenplay written by Collins herself. The cast is yet to be chosen, but we’ll be sure to let you know when more info is announced!
