The 80’s was one of the times that rock flourished. One of the most successful bands of the era were the ever so great Red Hot Chili Peppers.
For me, since they are my favorite band ever, they developed their own style of rock and are so hard to categorize. They can be considered anything from funk rock to hip hop. Going through the death of a band member, drug addictions, and really long hiatuses, it’s almost surprising they are still around. The present line-up consists of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, and drmmer Chad Smith. Their most recent album, I’m With You, though not the greatest, managed to get to #1 in its first week. This just says one thing to me: THEY ARE STILL RED HOT.
If you want to know more about RHCP it’s best to read Anthony’s book, Scar Tissue. Another good one would be their most recent, Red Hot Chili Peppers: an Oral/Visual History. Both are available at the library.
