Shout Out to Hamilton International Middle School!

Librarians from the Wallingford and Green Lake branch libraries held a tabling event to promote Summer Reading at Hamilton last week during lunches. Students were asked to fill out “mini” book reviews. Red Vines and Sour Punches were handed out! Chaos ruled! Over 300 mini reviews were turned in. Here are a few of our favorites:

Ms. Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – “The writing was good and the plot was clever. I couldn’t put it down”

The Mysterious Benedict Society – “The children are resourceful and can deal with problems on their own.”

The Help – It was interesting, funny and I learned a lot about segregation in the 60’s.”

Living Dead Girl – “It was touching, sad, and it makes you realize how good you have it.”

Messenger – “A very strong story that connects the first two books (The Giver and Gathering Blue) in cool ways. I couldn’t put it down!”

Iron Queen – “I love fantasy and reality mixed together. The author used great voice too.”

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks – “It was super interesting, and I learned a bunch of cool science.”

Girl, Interrupted – “Very interesting and revealing about the mental hospital system in the 1960’s.”

The book that was reviewed the most? The Maze Runner.

The books that got the most negative (thumbs down) reviews: The Great Gatsby and Pride and Prejudice.

Wonder what a mini review looks like? Here’s a picture:
