Title: The Eye of the World
Author: Robert Jordan
Summary: Rand al’Thor, a common farm boy sets out from his home along with a group of friends, an entertainer and two mysterious people who claim to be helping them, in order to avoid Fades (eyeless beings who can pass through walls) and other creatures of evil sent to capture them by the Dark One for a reason that is not revealed until the ending of the book. The group is split apart and the smaller groups each have their own set of problems while running from evil. The groups eventually find each other, though not with the losses of some members.
I started reading it because… I wanted to know the story that is depicted on the really cool front and back cover artwork of the line of people in the night sky,
I kept reading because… I wanted to know if and how Rand and company are going to be able to escape from the Fades and the Dark One.
Main character(s): If they were in a yearbook, they would be voted Most Likely To: Survive being chased down by evil creatures that can pass through walls.
Six Word Recap: Prophesied world saver is being hunted.
This book reminded me of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings because this book has quite a lot of similarities to The Lord of the Rings. For example, both books feature a group of characters who are being hunted by minions sent out by an evil entity, and many of the characters in The Eye of the World bear resemblances to the characters in The Lord of the Rings.
