Youth Drop-in @ Central tomorrow!

Youth Drop-inThursday, Mar. 5, 4 – 6 p.m.

Youth (ages 12-25) are invited to join us for a free weekly drop-in in the Central Library Teen Center.

Hosted in partnership with New Horizons and YouthCare, drop-ins will offer free snacks, activities and resources.

Library events and programs are free and all youth (ages 12-25) are welcome. No registration.

Teen Social Hour:

What do you Teen social hourdo for fun?  Do you like playing video games or board games?  Do you like listening to music or surfing the Internet?  Do you like talking and texting, laughing out loud?  Do you like snacking and chatting with friends?  If you answered “yes,” at least once, then the Teen Social Hour may be just the place for you. Come by yourself, bring a friend, or join your friends for video games, board games, music, computers, food, and fun. These are Teen Space events not to miss!

chessFrom 4 – 5:30 pm @ High Point: Drop In Chess.  Come play a game of chess! Children and teens are invited to drop by for fun and casual games of chess.  All skill levels are welcome. Chess sets and guidance by an adult chess coach will be available.

Wednesday, August 5

ArtivismFrom 2 – 5 pm @ Queen Anne: Artivism 101 with PugetSoundOff.  Do you have a message and a cause? Create a poster that supports the cause you’ve chosen. Cameras, laptops, pizza, and Photoshop instruction will be provided.  Registration is required.



MOHAIFrom 3 – 4:30 pm @ Rainier BeachVintage Photo Poetry.  Explore captivating images from the Museum of History and Industry’s archives and create poems and short stories using vintage typewriters!


Thursday, August 7

retro video gamesFrom 3 – 5 pm @ Columbia: Retro Video Games.  Play retro video games made for Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Atari consoles. Compete to get the highest scores, and cheer on other gamers while making cool retro crafts!



digital teen drop inFrom 3 – 5 pm @ Northeast: Teen Re-Creation Drop In.  Need some space and support for your digital projects this summer? Drop in for help, ideas and snacks!



Friday, August 8

game onFrom 2 – 4 pm @ Northgate: Game On + Hour of Code. Get some gaming in on the Wii or Kinect, play board games, eat snacks and try your hand at Hour of Code’s drag and drop programming.


Game OnFrom 3 – 5 pm @ Ballard: Game On!: Move with the music, hit a home run, crash Mariokarts, cheer on other gamers and meet other teens. Whether you are a gaming expert or a newbie, here is your chance to get some game time.


Check back often as we’ll be sharing as many of our programs as we can. You can also find all of our Summer Programming by going to the Calendar of Events and limiting the audience to “Teens.”

We’d love to hear back from you if you attend a program.  You can take pictures, make visual art, write us a reaction post, or just share general thoughts.  Touch-base with your local librarian, or e-mail them to us and we’ll share them here or at our new Tumblr!

Need a space to be creative and have fun? Come to Teen Space at the Northeast Branch, it’s a place to meet up and hang out!

Teen Space at the Northeast Branch is a place to meet up and hang out! Why not get out of the house for a while and head to the library? Come alone or bring your friends — then make new friends!

We’ll have snacks (a must), music, board games and supplies to do your homework. Plus, get this: you can even use our white board! We’re sure you’ll help us keep it interesting. Teen Space = a free way to be creative and have fun.

Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required.
