Okay, okay, I’ve been horrible at keeping promises lately…about how I was going to do another post before school started with a link to the Team Read application. However, it is not too late to sign up for Team Read! Applications for this school year are due on September 23rd, a Wednesday. Next Wednesday, to be exact…it includes a short essay (nothing to worry about) and three teacher references. If you would like to do Team Read (help 2nd and 3rd graders learn to read at and/or above grade level for tuition, community service hours, or hourly pay), you can pick up an application in your school’s main office, or go to this link: http://teamread.org/downloads/reading_coach_app_0910.pdf
I encourage EVERYONE to do Team Read. You have a guaranteed new friend(s), you get money or those necessary community service hours, and obviously, as they do background checks, you meet really awesome, nice people! There is also an extra opportunity, Team Read Ambassadors, which meets one Friday each month. As an ambassador, you take on more of a leadership position and help plan events, train new tutors, and generate ideas for the Team Read staff. It’s a great way to meet people who wouldn’t necessarily be at your site, so I’d love to see you all there!
